We are Andrew Moseley, better known as Moz and Sarka-jo Cole, also known as Sarka or SJ.

Moz is the creative genius behind the chapels quirky creations, design and most of the furniture. He can turn his hand to anything including musical instruments of the stringed variety (both playing and making), plastering, joinery/cabinet making (especially), tiling, plumbing, roofing and cooking.

Now retired, his career started at his fathers overall factory in Nottingham (so he happens to also know how to sew and fix sewing machines) and then moved into the building trade, a furniture making business (Monastic Woodcraft) and latterly a music shop (Mad Monks Music). Still a musician, he plays and creates music in the third floor music studio which we completed during lockdown 2020 and he creates stuff in his workshop, once marketed as Bedroom 2 – which will no doubt never be a thing!

Sarka-jo is the planner, organiser, cleaner, labourer, host and guide. Brought up in the Lake District and holding previous roles in teaching, social care and criminal justice amongst many others, she now offers guided walks, swim walks and experiences in and around Alston Moor. Since meeting Moz when he played with the band Room Full of Mirrors in the South Lakes, he has bought her Makita power tools which she has become increasingly proficient in using, along with taking instructions and lifting heavy stuff!

They both love beer, music, the outdoors and wildlife – not necessarily in that order.
